New York City police made several arrests Monday night following the Knicks’ 115-111 loss to the San Antonio Spurs in Game 3 of the NBA Finals at Madison Square Garden.

According to the New York Police Department, most incidents occurred in the blocks surrounding the arena after fans poured into the streets following the game. Authorities reported arrests related to disorderly conduct, assault, criminal mischief, and resisting arrest. No major injuries were reported, though officers said multiple people were treated for minor injuries at the scene.

The atmosphere around Madison Square Garden was tense throughout the evening. The Knicks entered Game 3 holding a 2-0 series lead, but the Spurs rallied late to secure the victory and cut New York’s lead to 2-1 in the series. The loss was the Knicks’ first home NBA Finals game defeat in nearly three decades.

NYPD officials said large crowds gathered around Seventh Avenue and 33rd Street after the game, with some fans climbing traffic barriers, throwing objects, and blocking streets. Officers moved in to disperse the crowd, and several confrontations led to arrests.

Madison Square Garden had already been operating under heightened security because President Donald Trump attended the game. Additional checkpoints, street closures, and crowd-control measures were in place around the arena, which officials said helped prevent more serious disturbances.

Videos circulating on social media showed chaotic scenes outside the arena, including fans arguing with police and others celebrating or venting frustration after the Knicks let a late lead slip away. Authorities urged fans to leave the area peacefully and reminded the public that arrests could lead to court appearances and fines.

The Knicks now turn their attention to Game 4, also at Madison Square Garden, where they will try to regain control of the series before it shifts back to San Antonio.
