One of the biggest trades in recent NFL history became official this week as the Cleveland Browns traded superstar pass rusher Myles Garrett to the Los Angeles Rams in a blockbuster move that instantly changes the balance of power in the NFC.

According to multiple reports, the Rams acquired Garrett in exchange for standout young pass rusher Jared Verse, a 2027 first-round draft pick, a 2028 second-round pick, and a 2029 third-round pick. The deal ends Garrett's nine-year tenure in Cleveland and gives Los Angeles one of the most feared defensive players in football.

Garrett leaves Cleveland as arguably the greatest defensive player in franchise history. Since being selected first overall in the 2017 NFL Draft, he developed into a dominant force, earning multiple Defensive Player of the Year awards, seven Pro Bowl selections, and establishing himself as one of the NFL's premier pass rushers. Garrett has accumulated 125.5 career sacks and recently set the league's single-season sack record with 23 sacks during the 2025 season.

The trade comes after months of speculation surrounding Garrett's future with the Browns. Despite signing a lucrative contract extension and Cleveland publicly insisting it had no plans to move its franchise star earlier this year, trade discussions intensified following another disappointing season and organizational changes within the franchise. Garrett ultimately waived his no-trade clause to make the move possible.

For the Rams, the acquisition signals an all-in approach toward winning a Super Bowl. Los Angeles has been aggressive in pursuing elite talent, and adding Garrett gives the franchise a cornerstone defender capable of taking over games. Many analysts believe Garrett's arrival could help fill the void left by the retirement of future Hall of Famer Aaron Donald.

Meanwhile, the Browns receive a significant return headlined by Jared Verse, the former Defensive Rookie of the Year, along with multiple premium draft selections. Cleveland General Manager Andrew Berry emphasized that the move was designed to strengthen the franchise's long-term outlook rather than signal a rebuild.

The trade immediately becomes one of the defining stories of the 2026 NFL offseason. The Rams now possess one of the league's most dangerous defenses, while the Browns begin a new era without the player who had been the face of their franchise for nearly a decade.

As training camps approach, all eyes will be on Los Angeles to see whether acquiring Myles Garrett is the move that pushes the Rams from contender to championship favorite.
