SAN ANTONIO, Texas — It was a night to remember for Highlands High School volleyball senior Jenesis Rodriguez, who reached a major career milestone by recording her 500th career kill in the Owls' victory over the Fox Tech Buffaloes.

Rodriguez, a senior right-side hitter, has established herself as one of the key offensive weapons for the Highlands volleyball program. Her 500th kill adds another impressive achievement to a high school career that has made her one of the players to watch in San Antonio volleyball.

The milestone came with extra significance because of the opponent. Highlands and Fox Tech are both competing in UIL District 27, making every matchup between the two programs an important opportunity as the season progresses.

For Rodriguez, however, the night was about more than just a number.

Reaching 500 career kills represents years of preparation, practices, matches and countless swings at the net. Each kill has contributed to a career that has helped make Rodriguez an important part of the Owls' offensive attack.

A Milestone Worth Celebrating

Reaching 500 kills is a significant accomplishment for any high school volleyball player, and doing it during a team victory made the achievement even more special.

Rodriguez entered her senior season already established as one of Highlands' players to watch. San Antonio-area coverage identified her among the notable local volleyball players for the 2026 season, listing her as a senior right-side hitter for the Owls.

Now, with 500 career kills officially in the books, Rodriguez has another milestone to add to her senior-year résumé.

Highlands Continues Its Push

While Rodriguez's milestone understandably stole the spotlight, the bigger objective for Highlands remains winning matches and positioning itself for success in district play.

The Owls have already shown signs of finding their rhythm this season, including a recent sweep of San Antonio Sam Houston.

With Rodriguez leading the attack, Highlands will look to build on tonight's victory and continue making noise throughout District 27.

For a senior who has already reached 500 career kills, there are still plenty of opportunities ahead.

Southern Sports Report Take: Tonight wasn't simply another win for Highlands. It was a celebration of one of the program's senior leaders. Jenesis Rodriguez reaching 500 career kills is a milestone that deserves recognition — and with the district season continuing, her biggest moments may still be ahead.
