Jourdanton JV Football Set for Showdown Against Pleasanton

JOURDANTON, Texas — The Jourdanton High School JV football team is preparing for another opportunity to compete this week as the Indians get set to face the Pleasanton Eagles in a matchup that should provide plenty of excitement for both programs.

The meeting between these two communities has the feel of a rivalry, with Jourdanton and Pleasanton separated by only a short distance. While the spotlight often shines brightest on the varsity teams, the JV matchup represents an important opportunity for younger players to gain valuable game experience and continue developing their skills.

Jourdanton's football program enters the week with momentum after the Indians' varsity squad picked up a convincing 58-23 victory over Nixon-Smiley on Sept. 4. The win showcased the offensive potential within the Jourdanton program and gave the Indians confidence heading into the Pleasanton matchup.

Pleasanton will also be looking to respond after its varsity team suffered a high-scoring 61-45 loss to Randolph last Friday. The Eagles previously opened the season with a 58-14 victory over San Antonio Highlands, demonstrating that Pleasanton has the ability to put points on the board.

For the Jourdanton JV, the focus will be on execution, discipline and continuing to build confidence. Games at the JV level are about more than simply the final score. They are opportunities for developing players to learn how to handle game pressure, make adjustments and prepare themselves for bigger roles in the future.

The matchup should also provide a great test for both teams' young players. With local bragging rights at stake, expect plenty of energy when Jourdanton and Pleasanton take the field.

The varsity programs are scheduled to meet Friday, September 11, at 7 p.m. at Pleasanton, adding another chapter to a matchup that has become a familiar one in the South Texas football landscape. Jourdanton and Pleasanton have met multiple times in recent seasons, including a Jourdanton victory in 2025.

For the JV players, this is another chance to show what they can do, compete for their teammates and represent their schools with pride.

Southern Sports Report will continue to follow Jourdanton and Pleasanton football throughout the season.
