After a slow and injury-interrupted start to the 2026 season, New York Mets superstar Juan Soto is once again looking like one of baseball's most dangerous hitters.
The 27-year-old outfielder has caught fire at the plate over the past several weeks, providing a much-needed spark for a Mets club attempting to climb back into the National League playoff race. Soto recently delivered one of his biggest moments of the season when he launched a grand slam during New York's series sweep of the Miami Marlins, helping the Mets complete a four-game winning streak before embarking on a challenging West Coast road trip.
The power surge has been impressive. Over a recent 15-game stretch, Soto blasted nine home runs while posting a 1.341 OPS, reminding baseball fans why the Mets committed a record-setting long-term contract to him before the 2025 season.
Soto's hot streak comes after an early-season setback. In April, he missed time with a right calf strain that landed him on the injured list and sidelined him for 15 games. Before the injury, Soto had opened the season with a hitting streak and was batting .355 through his first eight games. He returned to the lineup later that month and has steadily regained his All-Star form.
The Mets have desperately needed Soto's production. Following a disappointing 2025 season, the organization spent the offseason reshaping its roster around its franchise cornerstone. Despite the club's inconsistent play during the first half of 2026, Soto has remained the centerpiece of New York's long-term plans and one of the most feared hitters in baseball.
While New York's season remains a work in progress, Soto's recent performance provides optimism. The Mets have won six of their last eight games and are receiving strong contributions from several young players, but their postseason hopes will ultimately depend on their superstar continuing to produce at an elite level.
For now, Soto appears to be finding his rhythm at exactly the right time.
And if his recent power surge is any indication, the National League may once again be witnessing one of baseball's premier offensive talents at the peak of his powers.
