SAISD High School Football Teams To Watch This Season

SAISD football has quietly become one of the more competitive stories in San Antonio high school athletics. While the district does not always receive the same statewide attention as powerhouse suburban programs from Northside or Judson ISD, several SAISD teams enter the 2026 season with legitimate playoff aspirations and the potential to make noise in the UIL postseason.

The team generating the most momentum heading into the season is Sam Houston Hurricanes. The Hurricanes are coming off a district championship run in 2025 after overcoming an 0-4 start to finish unbeaten in district play. Their turnaround showcased resilience, athletic depth, and a coaching staff capable of keeping the locker room focused during adversity.
