Jourdanton Volleyball Opens District Play Against Marion

MARION, Texas — The Jourdanton High School volleyball team took the court Tuesday night, September 22, for an important matchup against the Marion Bulldogs as the Indians opened district play.

Jourdanton entered the contest with a 16-12 overall record, looking to build momentum following a challenging stretch of non-district competition. The Indians most recently faced TMI-Episcopal on September 18, falling 3-1 after winning the opening set, 25-16.

The matchup with Marion marked a new chapter for Jourdanton as the focus shifted from non-district competition to the district race. The Indians have already shown the ability to compete against a variety of opponents this season, including a 3-0 victory over Karnes City on September 15.

Jourdanton's season has featured several strong tournament performances as well, including victories over Hondo, Dilley, Medina, Somerset Academy Brooks, Stockdale, McMullen County and Cotulla.

With district competition now underway, every match carries added importance. The Indians will look to use their experience and offensive and defensive execution to establish themselves in the district standings.

Following Tuesday night's matchup at Marion, Jourdanton is scheduled to travel to Poth on Friday, September 25, with varsity action scheduled for 4:30 p.m.

Southern Sports Report will continue following Jourdanton volleyball throughout district play.
